Merry Christmas Everyone!

2011 Has been an amazing year for us.  We’d like to thank everyone who has bought our games, everyone we’ve spoken to and of course everyone who has visited our website this year.

The Tribloos went on sale on GameHouse this month (that reminds me I must update the game page) and may find it’s way onto another portal before the end of the year. We’re also making some fantastic progress with new projects and I think we’ll have something awesome to show in January.

But since it’s only a week until the big day it’s time for us to concentrate on family stuff so all that’s left to say is: Merry Christmas and have a bloomin’ good new year everyone!

What’s Happening – November 2011

Just a small update at the moment:

In Tribloos news, we’re working on getting the game to a wider audience through additional portals as well as a version we’ll be selling directly ourselves.

There is now the option to buy the game without DRM or anything directly from us, so you can give it a go if you don’t want to sign up to any of the online retailers we’re using.

We’re now working on a couple of new games, but until we know for absolute sure they’re going ahead we don’t want to talk too much about them…well, we do want to talk about them but feel we shouldn’t until we actually have something interesting to say about them!

Thanks again to everyone who bought a copy of The Tribloos, it means a lot to us. We hope you’ll all follow us and check out our new projects when they arrive :)

The Tribloos – Reviews and stuff

One week on and The Tribloos has done rather well for a zero budget game!

Currently it’s at number 18 in the BigFishGames Time management charts (15th in the Mac TM charts!) and has sold more than 1 copy – which is about as much info as I can really tell you at the moment because…well I just have no idea how many sales that equates to!

But the absolutely best thing that’s happened for us is the feedback we’ve received from people and also the reviews that have been written about the game.

Lets talk about the reviews first. Gamezebo gave the game 4.5 out of 5 and said “I definitely recommend this game to anyone looking for a challenging time management game, but also to anyone who is looking for a fun and relaxing game that’s a little different. Tribloos will not disappoint you.”

While JayIsGames said “The Tribloos is a lengthy and challenging time management game that dares to do something different from the glut of building-related titles out there. Give it a go and see if you get hooked!”

Awesome yes?

The other feedback from those wonderful people who’ve bought and played through the game is equally as brilliant. Check out the thread on the BFG forums for comments like “I definitely NEED this game!” and “I hope you are already working on your second game Bumpkin Bros because this one is a hit” and also “Wow ! What a honey of a game I absolutely love this one it’s fun, cute and challenging and I love the little tribloo guys they are just too cute. ”

So as you’d expect we’re totally chuffed over the response. It’s been a big hit and although we still have a fair amount of work to do on The Tribloos you can probably expect to see a new dev diary (or two) appear on the site any week now!

Thanks to all those that bought the game! We love each and every one of you!

And if you’ve not seen it yet, take a look at our home page for it.

The Tribloos – Release Day!

That’s it! It’s out there!

Check it out at BigFishGames here!

Other than any future updates there are no (known) issues, it’s been localized for 4 other languages, it’s passed the QA process and I emailed a bunch of wonderful people out there who I’m hoping will review and report on it and gimmie some publicity!

So, I’ve finally finished, after just over 7 months of part-time (although it certainly felt like full-time) development on the project. Plus it’s on one of the biggest game portals in the world: BigFishGames! Still very excited about this.

Thanks go out to everyone who supported the project and helped with testing (you’ve all been credited in the game!)

That’s all I wanted to shout out today, but for more of my “reflections” on the development, read on…

What we’re doing – September 2011

While I’m finishing up “The Tribloos” for distribution, here at Bumpkin Labs we’ve been talking a lot about what we’re hoping to work on over the next few months.

The reason we wanted to be game developers in the first place was because we have these crazy ideas for games and can’t help but want to see them realized into working programs. And blimey, some of them really are strange! Continue reading

The Tribloos – Dev Diary part 23

Testing has commenced!

By Monday this week I had finished most of the issues I’d recorded myself, play tested through the whole game and was convinced that I was finished (I knew in reality this was not true!) So I decided to send it out for testing… Continue reading

The Tribloos – Dev Diary part 21

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks for me on one hand and disappointing on the other.

Disappointing because I was ill last week which put back development somewhat. However it’s exciting because of the progress I’ve made since! Continue reading
